FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about the packs, licensing, and how to get started.
Products & Compatibility
What software do the overlay packs work with?
The Lens Flares Pack, Light FX Pack, and Textures Pack are PNG and PSD files. They work with any software that supports layer blending modes, including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects, Affinity Photo, Affinity Designer, GIMP, Figma, and Canva. If your software lets you set a layer to Screen or Multiply, you're good.
What software do the LUT packs work with?
The Make it Pop and Teal & Orange LUT packs are .cube files, which is the universal LUT format. They work with Adobe Photoshop, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, Final Cut Pro, and any other editor that supports .cube LUT import. Each pack includes a step-by-step installation guide.
What resolution are the assets?
All lens flares, light FX elements, and light leaks are 4K resolution (3840×2160px). Textures vary by category but are all high-resolution and suitable for professional production work.
What file formats are included?
Overlay packs contain high-resolution PNG files with transparent backgrounds. The Textures Pack also includes a colour changer PSD. LUT packs contain .cube files plus a PDF installation guide.
Can I use these on mobile?
The overlays can be imported into mobile apps that support layer blending, but they're designed for desktop workflows in Photoshop, After Effects, and similar professional tools.
Using the Packs
How do I use the lens flares and light effects?
Place the PNG file on a layer above your composition in Photoshop (or your preferred editor) and set the blending mode to Screen. That's it. The black background disappears and the flare or light element integrates with your image. Adjust opacity, scale, and position to taste.
How do I install the LUTs?
Each LUT pack comes with a detailed installation guide covering Photoshop, After Effects, Premiere Pro, and DaVinci Resolve. In most cases it's a one-time import: you load the .cube files into your software's LUT directory and they appear as selectable presets from then on.
How do I use the textures?
Place the texture on a layer above your composition and experiment with blending modes. Multiply and Overlay work well for most texture types. The plastic wraps, paper rips, and sticker textures are especially effective for adding depth and tactility to sports graphics. The included colour changer PSD lets you adjust texture tones without affecting the texture detail.
Do you have tutorials showing the packs in use?
Yes. Check the Ethan.J Design YouTube channel (@ethanjdesign) for tutorials, process breakdowns, and walkthroughs that show how these assets are used in real sports design projects.
Licensing & Commercial Use
Can I use these packs for client work?
Yes. The licence covers commercial use. You can use the assets in work you produce for clients, including social media content, campaign graphics, promotional materials, editorial design, and digital marketing assets. Full details are in the licence terms, but the key points: up to 5,000 combined end products for commercial use and up to 500,000 lifetime viewers for broadcast content.
Can I use these on social media?
Absolutely, that's what they're built for. The licence covers one business social media account per licence purchase.
Can I resell the assets as-is?
No. The assets must be significantly transformed as part of a new creative work. You can't redistribute, resell, or sub-license the raw files. This protects both the product and the designers who purchase it.
Can I use these for print-on-demand products?
Print-on-demand is not covered under the standard licence. If you need extended licensing for POD or other specific use cases, get in touch at contact@ethanjdesignshop.com and we can discuss options.
Where can I read the full licence terms?
The complete licence agreement is available on the Licence Terms page.
